Yes it has to do with a file problems when packing. As far as I can tell saving a form initiates a pack against the vcx. In doing that the tmp file is created and vfp cannot rename the tmp file back. There were issues with this under certain conditions in the past in just packing.

Here is the scenario I just went through.

Got VCX missing error.
Looked at folder in explorer verified there was a new tmp.
With VFP still remaining open, tried to rename the vcx. File Lock error
Closed VFP
Tried to rename the vcx. File Lock error
Rebooted vista box
Tried to rename the vcx. Success
VCX restored.

Its a Vista problem I am sure. Could be vista -> W2k not sure.

I am in the process of moving work locally. Its not the way I have worked for hmmmm 14 years anyway and I am not happy about the change. Something has changed in a recent vista sp. I have many reasons to work from a server. Most of the accumilated from years of developing in VFP.
