With a top speed of 40mph, I imagine the norm is around 35 then and you can't even get on the freeway here unless you can drive AT LEAST 45mph. City driving though it makes a lot of sense (unless you need to use one of the freeways to get around the city). Sheesh, at that speed, it would take me almost 4 hours to get to work. (it takes me 2.5 hours now - of course I don't drive it everyday).

Set Rant On Again

The neighboring Norfolk has the light rail project started. Virginia Beach refused to join, although there's the old railroad track which is still there in places - and there's still nothing built on it, i.e. the land is still not privatized, the stone foundation is still there... they could just fix it a bit and lay the tracks, and it goes pretty much all the way to the beach. But the elected expletives omitted have decided that the noise would be unbearable... in a city where about one third of the cars bear stickers "I {heart} jet noise" and jets fly just 100m above the hotels on the beach.
