Hi Ben,
Okay I am going to ask the obvious and maybe I missed something. If after 15 minutes you figure they walked away and you aren't going to let them back in without re-logging in then why not just put a re-login form on top right then and not worry about the minimize thing? If you put it on top and make it topmost until they re-login then the back form could still be there after they re-login.

Like I said, I might have missed something, but had to try.
