How about to add linked server to your data:
EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
     @server = N'YourVFPServer', -- Your linked server name here
     @srvproduct=N'VFP9',        -- can be anything
     @provider=N'VFPOLEDB.1',    
     @datasrc=N'"\\pjkserver\data\apps\app1\data\YourDBC.dbc"' -- Full path to your database

update MYVFPSERVER...mytable SET Active=0 where pkref = 'E10295'
