John,

VFP 6.0 will compile a 5.0 application without any problem. There are bound to be some new bugs or differences in VFP 6.0 that may affect your application. You should be sure to do some testing before you implement it. You can leave VFP 5.0 on your machine or not. It's really up to you. Be sure that you install the run-time libraries on all the user machines when you're ready to upgrade them.

I'm not sure where the cheapest price is. You could try www.pcconnection.com or www.provantage.com. Both usually have good prices. You can by just VFP, Visual Studio Profressional or Visual Studio Enterprise.

>Will 6.0 accept a 5.0 project and recompile okay? Should one keep 5.0 on the development machine along with 6.0, or remove 5.0 all together?
>Where's the cheapest place to purchase the Visual Studio enterprise and MSDN? Does one need to purchase VS or just VFP?
