Hi Rick,
A bad choice of words, perhaps. I've commonly seen other VFP controls referred to as "bitmaps", and, perhaps mistakenly, applied the term here.
Nevertheless, I don't think what it is is as much to the point as what it isn't, namely, a window. Something like the Microsoft Forms Textbox 2.0 is, as is the ThreeD Command Button.
BTW, thanks for the additional information on VFP message processing.
