Not entirely on subject but another referee was telling me on Saturday about an event that day in your birth state. The event is the Kettle Moraine 100. You probably know the Kettle Moraine is an area of southern Wisconsin that was left behind by glaciers in the Ice Age. It is extremely hilly, more like Colorado than the midwest.

Your initial thought may be the same as mine was -- yeah, 100 miles is a pretty long bike ride but not that unusual. There are century rides all the time. The hills would make this one more challenging than most.

Except this wasn't a bike ride. It was a running race. An ultramarathon, to be precise. My hat is off to anyone who finished. It wasn't quite as hot here over the weekend as by you but the temperature was in the high 80s. Also very humid. Completing the perfect weather for ultramarathoning, several tornadoes touched down in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin around dinnertime Saturday.

There was also a 38 mile race for those who didn't want to run 100 miles. They called that one a "fun run." I'm not making that up, either.
