Then something is wrong with my settings because:

1) If I click on a message to read it, the forecolor font is black when I click on it and it is black when I have read it. The color does not change after I have viewed a message so I cannot tell which messages I've read and which I have not.

2) New windows open up with a bright white background (not as important as #1 - this can be waited on)

I have dumped my cache, closed IE and opened it back up and logged back in but the result is the same.

I can certainly sympathize with long hours and unhappy customers Michel. I am only notifying you (as any paying customer would - mine included) which issues are show-stoppers to me and which are just aggravating so you know which have been fixed and which have not.
