What would you do in the case that an employee showed up an hour late, so that his scheduled shift start time was no longer true?

Our supervisors don't want to maintain a scheduled shift time for each of their assigned employees, but we may force this data maintenance on them anyway. It makes it much easier when we do not have to guess what the employee's scheduled shift start time is.
