Good news :

http://blogs.msdn.com/buckwoody/archive/2008/04/25/sql-server-2008-management-improvements-t-sql-debugger.aspx

Picked up a copy at the Heros Happen Here thing - may actually install it now. (Of course I'm sure the developers edition is available for $50 or so)

>>>The VS debugger is the only way I found to do it for SQL2005 - nice marketing ploy for MS eh?

>>>FWIW it works well (actually I haven't had to use the debugger in a while - must be my perfect code .. ahem..).

>>I believe SQL Server should have this ablity in itself, not using extra tool. Hopefully new version of SQL Server will address this lack.

>I agree completely. I haven't tried SQL 2008 to see if that has been addressed, but I hope it is.

- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
