It's called identity protection. There is nothing to straighten out at the POS, you simply say "no" when asked for additional ID. I've had one case in several months of doing this where the store still refused to continue with the transaction. I simply left and have not gone back. I also filed a complaint with VISA, who could, at their discretion, yank their merchant agreement.

Another way to look at it...Would you shop at a store that you know engages in illegal activity? How reputable is a store that doesn't honor their legally binding contracts, which the above store did not do.
