>>>>So let's say instead of just capturing these suspects and detaining them for years without trial and without counsel, we had just lined them up and shot them in the head. Would that have been OK with you, too, since they aren't U.S. citizens?
>>>>
>>>>It's pretty clear, once you stop trying to be obtuse about it, that the U.S. judicial system (along with many others) protects certain human rights, not American rights per se.
>>>>
>>>>This isn't the first time the Bush administration's legal maneuvers in the "war on terror" have been struck down by the Supreme Court, and it won't be the last. And you sure can't blame it on a liberal court. (Otherwise you would have <g>).
>>>
>>>Nobody is talking about killing them. You are the one being obtuse here. Do you not remember the guy who was a prisoner, then released and just last month blew himself up in a suicide attack? People who aren't US citizens don't or shouldn't have the protection of our constitution, particularly when they have been designated terrorists. I don't want our government torturing people, or wrongfully imprisoning them either, but I think our guys need to not be handcuffed in this war against the jihadists. I fear the liberals are going to make it impossible to prosecute a war. I had hoped the pres would challenge the supremes on this issue. This is a dangerous precedent.

>>John,
>>I'm not sure if I understand all this, but what will happens to me if I go to USA as tourist?
>>I'm not a citizen, then what?
>>I could be jailed, just because I look like somebody and have no chance to get legal protection?
>
>This would only apply if you happened to be strapping explosives to yourself and standing next to a bridge, or something that would cause our officers to deem you a terrorist. Also, under you circumstances, you would be in our country, and investigated by law enforcement. These guys aren't in the US, so the military is handling it. Once you put foot on our soil, law enforcement deals with it, and there is a whole other set of rules that apply. That is the main reason these people haven't been imported to a local prison.

Thank you. (really)
