>>>My American aunt gave me a $2 bill, in a wee presentation cardboard wallet, when I was a kid, saying "Take care of this. These are rare and it might be worth something in the future." I think I still have it somewhere. What's the score? Are they rare? Was she BSing me?

>>Yes, they're rare. Nobody uses them regularly. We have a small pile of them here that someone gave one of the kids for a gift, but otherwise, I haven't seen any in years and years.

>My mom has been hoarding them for literally decades, convinced they will be worth big money some day. Especially the ones with red ink. Who knows, maybe she's right. Only problem is, she doesn't know how to use eBay <g>.

Not long ago I saw a magazine ad for a cell phone with large numbers, a louder than usual speaker, limited functions, etc. IIRC you set it up to dial just one or two numbers with the touch of a button. Sort of the "I've fallen and I can't get up" approach. Have seen another ad for a gizmo designed for "grandparents" (pictured in the ad) to receive and print emails, either text or photos. Again the functionality is stripped down to the bare minimum to accomplish basic functions with ultimate simplicity. Maybe that's not such a bad idea, and not just for seniors.

If you can believe the wiki, ordinary 2 dollar bills are worth 2 bucks. However, the red label ones might be worth more.
