I don't use debit cards, except for a prepaid debit for foreign travel. Even then, I use it primarily to get cash from a machine.
But I never pay with a debit card. Why would I give someone the money today, when I can use a credit card and pay it at the end of the month? (Yeah, I do actually know why this is better for some people. I'm not of them.)
I actually do still pay most bills by check, though the vast majority are printed by Quicken. The checkbook is used mostly for small, neighborhood things--the nail salon, the cleaning lady. When my kids were still at home, the piano teacher. Also, co-pays at the doctor's office. I'd rather write a check and have a record than pay cash for that.
