Being in prison for 39 years is not exactly just stopping by for tea. Think back to what you were doing in 1969. Now imagine you had been in prison ever since. Would you consider that a light sentence?

Now think what Sharon Tate has been unable to do for those last 39 years.

I think many sentences are too short, but that isn't my point. My point is that if you get a 10 year sentence, serving 5 is not enough. You should have to serve 10. If you get a 5 year sentence, then you serve 5 years, not 1.5 year. If you get life, then you serve life.

In the case of murder, my attitude is really quite simple. When the victim awakes, the killer should be allowed out of jail.
