I have been writing accounting systems for years. I have consistantly run into trouble trying to 'do it their way'. If I were in your situation I would definately do it your way, create an unallocated credit for the over payment, this is the proper way and when subjected to a tax audit the correct regime will be in place for sales tax etc. Cheers, John
