I discovered something really weird and I think I need to call Ma Bell about it. I looked up Jim's apartment building in the reverse address directory, and for some odd reason, I get a message that it can't be found, and gives me three addresses to click on. The third of the three looks to me like the same thing I typed, but in any case, when I click on that one, Jim is listed as one of the residents (they don't give the apartment number). Sure enough the phone number is not in service, but if I click on the button to sort the names by last name, Jim disappears completely and is no longer listed as a resident at all. I wonder if there are 2 different databases that Bell uses for sorting and one is more up to date than the other. Seems unlikely, but I don't have another explanation.

Oh, well, hopefully I'll get the time on Saturday, and I'll stop in at the apartment manager's office and ask about Jim. I'm not working on Monday, so I'll try then if I can't get there on Saturday.
