Hi Naomi.

>I have created a complex report (People with Phones). I created another report. I would like to be able to have a link from a person to see this person's phones (and may be other reports).

Stonefield Query supports linked reports using the Link page of the Field Properties dialog. Here's a summary of the steps (see the help file for details):

- Create the child report (ie. the one you want to link TO) with an ask-at-runtime filter condition so it only shows records for the thing you clicked on in the parent report. In this case, perhaps the filter condition would be on person ID.

- Create the parent report (ie. the one you want to link FROM). Select the field you want the user to click (ie. the link field) in the Selected List in Step 2 of the report wizard and click Properties. In the Link page of the Field Properties dialog, select "Report" as the link type and choose the report to link to (the child report you created earlier) from the reports list. The grid below that then shows the ask-at-runtime filter condition for the selected report. Choose Field as the type of value to pass for this condition and choose the field to pass (for example, person ID). Choose OK.

- Run the report. The field you chose to have a link will appear in green with an underline (ie. it'll look hyperlinked). Clicking one of the records will display the child report, showing only child records of the record you clicked. Notice the preview window is tabbed, so you can see both reports. Go back to the parent report and click a different record, and that report is added to another tab in the preview window.

- You can drilldown as many levels as you want. For example, you could link the child report to a grandchild report.

As I've mentioned before, sitting in on one of our webinars would likely be very useful for you, as this is one of the topics we cover.

Doug
