>But that's the point, isn't it? In rigid socialist systems, you couldn't say a thing or you'd lose; in capitalism, you can say whatever you want, it doesn't mean a thing.

What is really there to be 'lost' in a rigid capitalist system, if you are given nothing to begin with ?
Everything you have is what you made or inherited. So of course, you can bark all you want.

In a poltronised / rotten communist system, problem was that very few people really 'made it'.
Far to meny people were actually given a lot, without really earning it. Or given chance to steal.
So all ends were open. Clapping/cheering had tad more sense in this case.
From 'right winger' I used to be (as reaction to above) I kind of started to appreciate 'middle solution' where you have strong market economy but society is balanced by having strong social/left movement as it is mostly case in modern Europe today.

Irony of the situation (me 'right wing' <g>) is that I ended up living in only
European country that have - Communist president !! And I don't seem to have any problem with it!
But nothing really changed here. They (communist party) in the meanwhile (last 30 years) simply evolved into something like Labour party in UK. You can still see Che and even Marx at some street gatherings but that is about it.
In given political circumstances I will of course vote 'right', just to preserve this precious balance.
(FarToLeft = NoGood) .OR. (WildDellusionalRight=NoGood)

But cheering at Wallmart ???
Alija Sirotanovic&Co were given more of a respect in a day, then these poor people will see in their entire life.
