>>>"I, however, enjoyed it for a time" -- now there is a stealthy commentary, LOL.

>>I saw that too. I think she means, she has matured now and finds such "humor" boring. At least, that's the way I feel about it.<g> He was funny when I was a teen, but now there isn't much that can shock me. I guess I've seen too much, huh.<s>

>I would agree with that if I was only attracted to George Carlin by his use of certain words. Shock value, if you will. What I liked about him was his sharp observations about everyday life. Like the routine about "stuff" -- why do we need so much stuff? We accumulate so much stuff pretty soon we need a bigger house just to keep all our stuff in. Or the one about food. "Some food doesn't even sound good. Like squash." "There are no blue foods. Don't say blueberries, they're purple. Who's hiding the blue food?!" On food labels: "Let me assure you, nothing that comes in a can is Home Made." Another favorite: "Not me, I'm not getting on the plane. Let the daredevils get on the plane. I'm getting in the plane." Etc. etc. etc. He would have been hilarious and lasting if he had never used a swear word. The obituary writers just would have had to come up with different leads, that's all.

"This is the hippy-dippy weatherman at W - I - N - O, Wonderful WINO
The forecast for tonight is......DARK. Continued dark, changing to light by morning"

but my favorite is his male sexist pig joke.

Ring Ring Ring Ring

"Hello?"

"Hi George. This is Alice"

"Ummm......Hi Alice"

"We met at a party a couple of weeks ago. You said I was a good sport"

"Yeah! How are you?"

"I'm pregnant. And I'm going to kill myself"

"Say.......You ARE a good sport"
