>>>I saw that too. I think she means, she has matured now and finds such "humor" boring. At least, that's the way I feel about it.<g> He was funny when I was a teen, but now there isn't much that can shock me. I guess I've seen too much, huh.<s>

>>I would agree with that if I was only attracted to George Carlin by his use of certain words. Shock value, if you will. What I liked about him was his sharp observations about everyday life. Like the routine about "stuff" -- why do we need so much stuff? We accumulate so much stuff pretty soon we need a bigger house just to keep all our stuff in. Or the one about food. "Some food doesn't even sound good. Like squash." "There are no blue foods. Don't say blueberries, they're purple. Who's hiding the blue food?!" On food labels: "Let me assure you, nothing that comes in a can is Home Made." Another favorite: "Not me, I'm not getting on the plane. Let the daredevils get on the plane. I'm getting in the plane." Etc. etc. etc. He would have been hilarious and lasting if he had never used a swear word. The obituary writers just would have had to come up with different leads, that's all.

>Yeah, he had a few good routines, but the obscenities killed it for me. To me, Jerry Seinfeld and Stephen Wright were the funniest, and I don't recall ever hearing any obscenities coming from either. It's not that I a prude, trust me I've probably heard and/or said everything that could be considered an obscenity, but that was a different me. (I don't know who that guy was)<g>

I would agree with you that Stephen Wright may be the funniest human on the planet. Hmmm... well, maybe except for Dave Barry. Ok, Wright is the funniest stand-up comic on the planet.
