I found that trying to use anything Microsoft was a real pain. Every time I got something working they came out with a security patch that screwed it up. For several years now I have been using the SMTP/POP3/IMAP Email Component Library at http://www.marshallsoft.com/
and am very happy with it. Try it out. You can't beat the price and its for the distribution license which means you can sell prgs containing it without paying more.
