>>I've carried a gun, or two, almost every day of my adult life. I've pulled it thousands of times, never fired it at anyone though.

>Just interested in the numbers: interpreting "pulled it" not to include things like cleaning or the shooting range, but keeping others off balance. Estimating work days high with approaching 10000 (40 years of 250 work days) would mean markedly more than twice averaged over 10 day periods ? Seems quite high seen from here...

I worked for several years in the "Fugitive" bureau and it was not unusual to pull the pisto a couple of times during a shift, because I was doing building entries. I also worked many drug operations and that called for having the pistol out too. If I only pulled the pistol 2 times a week, averaging 48 weeks a year, for 31 years, that would be 2976 times. That doesn't take many of the overtime details I worked doing special ops.
