I think what you're missing from that article is the delayed light and the non-delayed light came from the same distant object, but with different frequencies.

So, fitting this into my theory, the story is that both the delayed light and the punctual light are actually considerably delayed, but as the delay is a function of their energy (frequency), different frequency light from the same source will delay differently as per their frequency.

All the light may have been delayed by a million years, but the gamma rays 4 hours slower.
