Thanks for the input input Sergey / Naomi the FLL's hash function has a sha option that works fine.

Has either of you or anybody else been able to use this library or something else that allows someone to encrypt the userid and password locally first then connect to MySQL with the encrypted fields. I did ask this question on the mysql site but getting responses at times isn't easily done.
