Take up a sport. Tennis is good. Though, I recall in NYC it's not as easy to find courts or people to play with as it is down here.

What about joining a readers club? You meet people and discuss what you've read. Not my cup of tea really, but I know others who enjoy it.

What about a project. And I don't mean a technical one. Painting? Go to the museum and do sketches. Something creative.

How about getting out of the city for a long weekend? Go somewhere you would never think of going. Take pictures, put them up on the internet and share the experience here.

You could also volunteer somewhere doing something that you enjoy, or might enjoy.

The city is a hard place to make friends. I know, that's one reason I'm down here. You can do it though.
