Renoir's suggestions seem sound to me. Keeping yourself busy can help.

Also, if some friends don't want to talk with you, well, it isn't worth while to devote too much time making efforts to change the situation, or to think about it. Just look for other friends.

>For a start, I'll call my other friend. She called me today, but I could not talk much.

>>What about joining a readers club? You meet people and discuss what you've read. Not my cup of tea really, but I know others who enjoy it.

>This actually sounds like a thing I may like. I'll check around.

>>What about a project. And I don't mean a technical one. Painting? Go to the museum and do sketches. Something creative.
>>
>>How about getting out of the city for a long weekend? Go somewhere you would never think of going. Take pictures, put them up on the internet and share the experience here.
>>
>>You could also volunteer somewhere doing something that you enjoy, or might enjoy.

>>The city is a hard place to make friends. I know, that's one reason I'm down here. You can do it though.

>Thanks, I'll think a bit more on a way home.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
