I was just attempting to point out that those questions/attacks do exist.
I don't recall any Republican luminaries denigrating Kerry's service in Vietnam, but the Swiftboat group was successful in discrediting Kerry fo a large segment of the public. In a similar manner, Obama's patriotism has been questioned, and he felt the need to respond.

Goes to my earlier point in that Democrats, at least the left-leaning ones, seem to believe they have to constantly state their patriotism even when not under duress. To me, that signifies insecurity.
