I am still gnashing my teeth over the wireless providers and phone manufacturers having exclusive arrangements with each other. In fact I was just on the phone this morning with Verizon, finding out what it would cost to get out of my plan with them to switch to AT&T Wireless / iPhone. You probably already know the wireless carriers eased back on their termination fees in response to government pressure (which in turn was in response to sky high consumer complaints). But it only applies to new or renewed contracts. Of our three phones, Emily upgraded hers the longest ago and is still under the old termination fee of $175, no matter how long you have been under contract. Mine is prorated -- the new way -- and Allie's contract is up in just a couple of days. The bottom line is I am going to make the switch in November, when Emily's contract is up. Now she's got me excited about the iPhone. The Verizon phone rep this morning tried to interest me in a couple of LG phones they are promoting and to me they looked like exactly what they are, imitation iPhones.
