I found out that the "#" (pound sign) is used to say, "Hey, this is the start of the string we are sending to whatever device".

The "&" in this case is used to terminate the string, or to tell the program that that is the end of the string.

>It looks to me like '#' and '&' in this case are just the characters sent to a device and interpreted by the device.
