>>>Come on, that "measure" only means that the taxes did not rise as much as the oil price. Kinda telling a girl raped three times this year and twice last year that she is better off than the one raped twice this year and once last year, as the percentage of the rise was less...

>>Really? we are already used to high gas prices. We have adjusted out living to it. The rise of gas prices aren't doing us as much as in the US. First of all, because the US was used to very low gas prices, but now the big cars are getting dumped because driving a V6 200hp truck is getting too expensive to many american. Many of us are taking the train or bus or are getting reimbursed from our employers. We can declare 27 cents per kilometer to deduct from our income tax. Really those sky high gas prices does not hurt as much as the it does to the average america: Our society already has found its way to deal with those.

>Really. It only means that the adjustment is greater. Your arguement followed to abstruse length would mean I have to thank the robber for eliminating my task of spending my own money and making me live frugal.

I don't follow the robber analogy. You have to pay for your fuel. And you have to pay taxes whether in the US or in Europe so you'll be robbed in either case. In Europe we generally have a much different taxation model of which the income is used to provide usefull things like healthcare. Do you really want to go the healthcare model of the US ? Do you really want to see your relatives live in absolute povery because they were unlucky in their lives? Nobody likes to pay taxes, however whenever you need the government to help you out in anyway, you should be reminded that that those provisions are payed by taxes.

If you really don't want to pay any taxes, I'd suggest to live somewhere in south america or africa. But then don't expect someone to help you out when you need help without pulling big bucks out of your wallet. It reminds me about a story of my late friend Jim Nelson. when he got his kidney transplant more than a decade before he did not have to pay for anything except the rent for television in the hospital. He would have died much earlier if he was living in the US because he did not have the money to pay healthcare.

Pick your choice.
