>>>OK, you are a part of this, but why do you insist on involving the rest of us? Why does everything have to be so da*n public? If this a case involving four people, including you, why can't this stay between the four of you? And if you all come to an agreement, THEN it's time to "go public" with whatever you have agreed should be public.

>>Why you would not simply say, that it is OK in your book to attack a person the way they did and then sent the letters to the employer and then even try to sue the employer for letting the letters be known?

>As I just wrote, I can not make ANY judgement without knowing all the facts. But please observe that I don't say that what happened was acceptable, I think it was only sad, sad, sad. And I think it was sad for all parts involved, there surely were only losers in this case. The only thing I really write, is that this case should remain between you and the other parts involved. I understand that this can be tough for you, but I also believe that you will come out of this as a stronger person. Fight this with your opponents, and not publicly.

Taking emotions aside there is only one fact in this story: one person lost a job in a very tough job market environment. Please, note that the job was in a very secure place so it could take extraordinary efforts to make it.
It is quite clear that NN made bunch of stupid mistakes, actually I told it to her before it happened; but mistakes do not make the situation less clear than it is.
