Rod,

No go on the RemoveObject method. I've tried that, too. It seems like it may be related to my code that puts in the "dummy" nodes for showing the plus signs for lower levels. If I don't let it do that, it never fails to release. But I need to show lower levels that have other nodes. I don't actually populate the lower nodes until its parent is expanded.

Other questions:
1) Can you do NODEFAULT for methods of an Active-X control? It doesn't seem like it.
2) Is there anyway to prevent a "colapse" of an expanded node, particulary the top-most level?
