Why am I getting MouseMove and other Mouse events on a grid that is disabled?

My understanding was that if a container was disabled, none of the objects in that container would respond to events. However, I am in fact seeing MouseMove, MouseEnter, and MouseLeave events (and possibly others).

What did I not understand?
