I was referring to the scheduled system scans, as in it shouldn't really be needed if the autoscan has done its job, so once a day is too much, if it takes hours and thrashes. But i can't be sure how much thrashing was due to AVG and how much to FF 3.

I've just turned autoscan off. Not that it was particularly slowing down my FF3, it's just that I put enough trust in FF's own recognition of bad websites. As for the thrashing of the disk... it happens around 05:00 or so, when I'm not in the same room, so I don't mind.
