>Thanks for the laugh :o)

"Pođebavamo po kućama, majstor nosi alat sa sobom" :)

That's the first that crosses my mind when I achieve to get a laugh, but there's no proper nor full translation. I must retell the story.

As new 1976, 82 or some such year was coming close, an idle reporter filled his weekly comment with a paragraph saying "and the approach of the big feast can be seen by classified ads - one butcher, for example, advertises 'I slaughter in houses. Meister carries tools with himself'...". Two phrases need explanation here, "...in houses", or rather, at the houses, means he's visiting, doing it your place. Many people would buy a piglet, or get one from their peasant cousins, and would need someone to turn it into meat. Second, "meister" (actually, "majstor") was anyone with a trade - your electrician, mechanic, plumber, upholsterer, barber.... butcher. But not your doctor, professor or lawyer. Majstor was better paid, he was working class, and working on the side, tax free ;).

Now the first verb in my sentence could be heavily mistranslated, because in the root of it there is The Action, but "pod" means sub-, under-... which turns it into "we slightly mock at your place, with our own tools".

>>>Obama has since backed away from the remarks, saying the future status of the city should be negotiated by Israel and the Palestinians and that everyone should have access to its holy sites, sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
>>>
>>>Foreign relations could prove very confusing when he is elected...
>>
>>"Very confusing" will be a vast improvement over "absolutely clueless".
