Hey John,

>I disagree. I think a lot of just, plain ol damn fools, will vote for him, and they aren't ideologues. They don't even have an idea!<s> The good thing is, I think many of the people who don't really want to vote for McCain, will take the "lesser of evils" route and elect him. My question is, who is on the horizon for us conservatives? I like Jindal, from Louisiana.

Dunno, as I'm not a conservative. I'm a libertarian. That being said, I think Bobby Jindal suffers from the same negatives that Obama does - too young, too inexperienced. I like the guy, too, but let's season him a bit.

McCain called himself a Teddy Roosevelt Republican the other day, which he's not, but he had the right idea - a TR type of conservative would do very, very well now. The problem is, to get to national prominence, you can't be a TR Republican because too many of Teddy's ideals conflict with the current party platform.

Same with Democrats. The guys on that side who actually get it will never be nominated because the party is currently swinging to the left and so only empty suits or foaming leftists get attention from the party hierarchy and so never make it to the general public.

Hey John, yeah, as you put it "ol damn fools" may vote for Obama because they don't take the responsibility of voting seriously and lean Democrat. Others may vote for him because he's black and they want to, in their eyes, score a point against racism.

Stepping back, the shame of all of this is that the contenders from both parties are....for want of a better word....chowderheads. Man, you are so right about noone being the future of the GOP but I'd extend that to say that there are no future up-and-coming Dems either.

Truly pathetic.
