It's a work around and doesn't necessarily prevent every kind of corruption. If possible try fixing the network. If that's not possible, I found that closing the table and opening it again increases the stability, but slows down the application.

You could also try to use some server based approach for changing data like a DCOM server or a web service running on the file server.
