Because she can. Because the tournament organizers think her presence still has the ability to raise attendance. Because, of all the golfers in the LPGA, she is still the only one where people are curious as to if she could compete with the men.

Depends on the definition of professional. A professional makes money from the sport. This sort of exposure can generate much more income (albeit endorsement income) than any success on the LPGA, especially if she does well.

Even though Annika and Lorena reached a point where they have nothing left to prove on the women's tour, I don't think they have the ability to compete successfully against the men. Wie, with her extra distance, might make it interesting. But her game certainly has to mature well beyond her current abilities.

I no longer have any real interest in her beyond the long legs and short skirt (worse luck, I'm almost old enough to be her grandfather). I also think the legs and skirt are part of why the Reno organizers would like her in the field.

I think her image would be better served by avoiding stunts like this until she has proven herself against the women
