>>I'm not ready to scrap the democracy thing just yet, but dang, it sure seems like the world has lost it's mind. We've got people chomping at the bit to vote for a "rock star" who has never done anything, doesn't understand the issues, and has no intelligent plan.<s>

I think we are unique in the world, from what I've heard, seen and read. Even though we have 50% of our country as certifiable lunatics, we are still free, so far. If Obama wins, I don't know for how long. I feel blessed to live in this country, because at least here, we are free to say what we want, with very few limitations, particularly when you contrast us with the rest of the world. Consider the olympics. The Chinese govt has issued many edicts that our citizens just wouldn't stand for. Our presidential candidates, and even the president make speeches where people exercise their right to free speech right outside. The liberals even try to disrupt the speeches, which is really a little over the edge. All-in-all, I think we are still the place to be, as evidenced by the fact that we have to try to secure our borders, to keep people out, not in.
