I agree with you. It probably is a regional thing. I believe in Arizona you are allowed to carry a gun. How does this affect the crime statistics? I'm not really sure. I would have to research that. Texas and most of the South are more "gun culture" oriented than the North East. Most everybody I know wouldn't think of carrying a gun, aside from the fact that getting a "carry" permit is next to impossible here. The only people who carry guns here are criminals and cops. There is a general consensus against carrying guns in this state. I would hate to see what would happen if every angry New Yorker were allowed to carry a gun. Everday I see fights break out on overcrowded subways because somebody accidentally bumped into someone else. And the way people drive around here! I think the murder rate would go up, not down.
