>I don't think any media specifically regarding an election has come close to surpassing the Chicago Tribune the day after the Dewey/Truman election. It comes close today though. I was watching CBS news tonight, and then NBC and both carried a story on the number of journalists covering the candidates - 2 for McCain (yes, that is correct - only two) and too many to count for Obama on a daily basis. McCain's website is even doing a poll on it:

There's one possible explanation. We may be seeing the Chinese Cook's Revenge (even though that is a programming joke).

The reporters getting even for eight years of being spoonfed talking points, being put in bed with the troops (collectively, or one by one, I never got that one right), having their stories just yanked out unpublished, having one Gannon parade as a reporter and pretend to be insanely important and having access to WH press conferences out of the blue, having been threatened to be weaned of the government's tit (spin it like this or else no news for you next time), having their questions answered with just more repetition of talking points... I mean, if I was a reporter, I'd be tempted not just to put my money into the change of horses, but even more than that. There's only so much humiliation one can take.

Disclaimer: this is an opinion piece. I'm not making nor reporting any news. I have no sources but my impressions. Void where prohibited. Your mileage may vary, your can opener may go conservative without warning. Looking through your window is known to be a biased source.
