He has maybe a couple of servicable years left. At 34 the decline will be fast.
According to some reports, out of 32 best 2009 draft prospect, 12 of them are DE/LB variety. So, even at 45, they will end up with a pretty good pass rusher if they choose to go that way. Parcells is no fool. :)
Washington is the worst team in the toughest division in football (you can argue that the beagles is). I think thye'll do good to finish 8-8 but I think they'll go 6-10. I admit that I'm bias being a Cowboys fan.. I wish nothing but bad things for those deadskins and the beagles. Cowboys TC opens tomorrow in Oxnard.
>A second round pick that may end up being the 45th of the draft overall against, arguably, one of the best active defensive lineman in the game????

>No, dude, not a trade I'd make without other motivations.

>>All that may be true, but, come on, a second round for an aging player.... that's good trade for the Dolphins.
>>
>>>Yeah, there's that. I think it's more indicative of Parcell's wanting to brand the team his way than anything else. Taylor was going to be himself and Parcell doesn't want players who have a life. Huizenga, the owner, loves Taylor. I think Jason has a good career ahead of him, in and out of football, and his charitable contributions to the underprivileged are well documented.
>>>
>>>>No surprise there. The NFL likes its players meek -- except on the field, of course. Even transgressions as mild as Taylor's trying to set himself up for an entertainment career after football are treated as acts of insufficient servitude. Like he didn't sing the company song loudly enough. The players make a heck of a lot of money (for a few years, anyway) and are awash in fame and adulation, so no one is going to feel too sorry for them, including me. Still, what a deeply paternalistic league. They would have been great plantation owners.
