>>>I think the atmosphere changed. Those who have moved to (or more accurately expanded to) other languages have to be so careful to preface any comment about anything but Fox with an Article of Faith disclaimer about how much they love Foxpro that it just became tedious. Afraid to show enthusiasm about anything new lest they be seen as a heretic. <s>

>>Well then don't post it in the Visual FoxPro forum. <g>

>>I actually haven't run into too much of that in the .NET forums. Worst I got was getting shot down once for liking WPF, but that was by one of of the dot net traitors. ;-)

>>Seriously, It's sad if the numbers are declining. This is a great community, I get faster, better thought out and more accurate answers to my questions here than anyplace else on the web. And I'm talking about on all coding subjects covered here, not just VFP. I just try and stay away from Chatter, it can drive you bonkers.

>Yeah, you're right, of course. I guess i should have said you have to be careful what you say in the Foxpro forum (reminds me of a joke from my youth : Methodist dies and goes to heaven and when given the tour sees a big wall and asks "What's over there?" and St. Peter says "Shhh, it's the Catholics - they think they're the only ones up here")

>I am a bit surprised the .NET and SQL forums are not more robust with VFP UTers who have extended their skill sets, but I do think that starting at least 5 years ago those who were interested in something other than VFP started to feel the atmosphere was hostile and just stopped coming here and there isn't much now to pull them back. As one who fondly remembers the Foxgang sense of the old CIS days I sincerely miss that community - not sure the UT ever achieved that either in expertise or fellowship - but I am not optimistic about the trend reversing. Would love to be wrong (if only for the rarity of the experience <bg> )

Heretic! <g>

I suspect many of those who have moved on to other tools now hang out on the popular spots for those tools. The typical .NET developer has probably never heard of the UT.
