>>>I did not hear what he said about Iran. He said he would never nuke iran? Does iran need nuking?
>>
>>During the democrat debates, he declared nuclear weapons would never be an option. During his trip, he stated nothing would be off the table to deal with Iran who he (now) considered a grave threat (as opposed to his earlier speech where he stated it was a tiny country like Cuba and Venezuela and no threat to the U.S.).

>What's a little disconcerting is that for some the nuclear option is ON the table, like it's just another possible approach to dealing with an annoying nation (who we aren't even at war with). Nuclear weapons have been used on people once in human history, yet there are those whose attitude seems to be, "Yeah, sure, let's nuke 'em."

On the other hand it does avoid that messy "occupation" phase - we don't seem to be very good at that. <s> I do agree that I can't imagine a scenario where we would even consider even tactical nukes there or pretty much anywhere else short of us being attacked with nukes. I can imagine a military strike - more likely by Israel - to derail an imminent threat of Iran having nukes.

I'm amazed people aren't more aware of/focused on the Israeli strike on Tall al-Abyad in Syria near the Turkish border last September. Betcha it got the attention of the Syrians and some North Korean tourists.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
