The problem was resolved after inspecting the base class of the pageframe... the baseclass had a pagecount of zero before i hacked the .SCX and had a pagecount of 1 in the new baseclass resulting in some bizzare behavior. Changing the new baseclass for my pageframe to a pagecount of zero solved it.
