During his trip, he stated nothing would be off the table to deal with Iran who he (now) considered a grave threat (as opposed to his earlier speech where he stated it was a tiny country like Cuba and Venezuela and no threat to the U.S.).

We'd have to be very careful where we placed them so we dont inadvertantly close down the Hormuz, or turn some oil fields to glass.

Thought you'd like that. Another favorite Ross Thomas book is called "The Fools in Town are on Our Side" and begins with the Mark Twain quote from Huck Finn

"Hain’t we got all the fools in town on our side? And ain’t that a big enough majority in any town?"

(the book itself takes inspiration from "The Man who Corrupted Hadleyville") God I miss him.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
