I'd hate to see how fat they are in those states.

I'm in Kansas, and at least here in the state office building my office is in, the average weight for men is probably close to 300 lbs, and women is easily over 300. The standard shape is round or flattened oval. AFAIK fitness instruction is by Jabba the Hut here.
