Hi Michael.

>Is there anyway I can detect on a Vista Box that the system has the UAC turned on or off? We are experiencing some issues when a user chooses to perform a housekeeping function in a folder protected by the UAC functionality that works okay when the UAC is turned off.

While that may be acceptable for a short-term kludge, it's best to not require that. I wouldn't want to have to explain to my users that the reason their system was hacked was because the application I wrote required them turning off security.

One possibility is to change permissions so the user does have write rights to the folder (not a good idea if the folder contains executables). Another is to modify the application so it's more flexible in where data is stored.
