In a way, capitalism is a pyramid scheme. It assumes endless growth. Or, while we're at it, why doesn't that "if my grand-grand-...-father had put one cent in the bank, today it would be..." ever result in somebody getting obscenely rich? Surely it was done from time to time, at least by accident.
